How many kinds of embroidery patch backing types ?

Written By Manager
Embroidery patch has 5 common backs:

1. Non-woven back. This type of patch is what we most often say about sewing on patches. The customer fixed the patch to the garment through the sewing machine, without special technology.

2. Plastic back. Its role is to make the patches tougher. Customer need fixed the patch to the garment through the sewing machine as well.

3. Iron on backing. This type is very popular among customers. The high temperature of 140 °C makes the glue melt perfectly and blends perfectly with the clothing. It requires an iron or a hot press to achieve it. When your patch size is greater than 8 inches, it is recommended that customers do not use the back of the hot melt adhesive. Due to the large size, many glues will not melt, making the badge easy to fall off.

4.  Velcro back. Many of these patches are used for outdoor clothing, hats, various military costumes, etc. It is divided into hook part and loop part. First, sew loop part on the garment,  then put the embroidered patch with hook on the loop part. A lot of outdoor clothing has a blank loop part on it. Its purpose is that customers can freely replace their own patterns on this
dress. It is a way to be flexible. Especially welcomed by the troops.

5. Adhesive stick back. Its role is the same as the sticker in our daily life. Stick to where you want, but unwashable. Many customers confuse iron on with adhesive stick. You just have to remember one point: iron on washable, adhesive back unwashable.

I hope this introduction can help you. If you have other questions, please leave a message on our website. Thanks!
